Project New Hope Richland Library

Richland Library has received a grant to assist 30 individuals or families who are homeless. Project New Hope offers casework services, intensive job seeking counseling, targeted discretionary funds that can be used in a variety of ways to help facilitate their getting jobs or housing. Up to $1,500 per individual or family can be used on such things as uniforms tools, security deposits or first month’s rent. This is a great opportunity for those who "fall between the cracks". For example, they may be working with an agency to help them find a job but they can’t buy them tools or they may find them a job but they need a security deposit which they can’t afford. We can flexibly cooperate in making it work for our clients. Our offices are on the third floor of the Main Library located at 1431 Assembly Street in Columbia.

In addition to Project New Hope, the Richland Library has two full time Social Workers who provide assistance, information, and referrals on a variety of topics including: Affordable Care Act, Medicaid, Snap, TANF, voter registration, food, transportation, VA Benefits, and Medical/Dental and Legal Referrals just to name some of the services. In the Business, Careers and Research Center at the library, clients can get help with the following: Career Assessment, Job Search Skills, Resumes, Career portfolio, LinkedIn Support, Interview practice again just to name a few of their services.
