Point-in-Time Count

What is the Point-in-Time (PIT) Homeless Count?

The PIT Count is intended to provide a snapshot of the size and characteristics of the local sheltered/unsheltered population experiencing homelessness. This annual Count helps communities understand if current interventions are having the intended impact on homelessness. The Count also informs local policymakers, researchers, and service providers about gaps in services, which aids in the prioritization and development of additional resources. The PIT Count is coordinated by United Way of the Midlands (MACH’s lead agency) with MACH volunteers.
